Most Walkable Neighbourhood Ottawa - Where to Live in Ottawa?

Prefer to walk, bike or take public transit? With the opening of the Ottawa LRT (light rail train) in early 2019 there's more and more talk about living within walking distance to work, friends, families or your favourite hang out spot in Ottawa.

One quick and easy way to get around Ottawa will be through the Ottawa LRT which will, once fully completed in 2023, make 70% of households of Ottawa within 5 km of an LRT station.

These scores are based on a database of local and surrounding shops, restaurants, libraries, public transit and much more. According to WalkScore.com Ottawa is the 5th most walkable city in Canada. 

The most walkable areas according to them are the Somerset, Westboro, Rideau-Vanier area and Centre Town-West Centre Town areas. You can also see a map below.

If you where you want to live is far from work and you will need to travel across town daily then you should consider living in close proximity to an Ottawa LRT station.

Ottawa will have two lines one called the Confederation Line that runs from Tunney's Pasture LRT Station to the Blair LRT Station. The other LRT line is called the Trillium Line and it will run from the Bayview LRT Station to the Earl Armstrong LRT / Bowesville LRT Station to the South.
